Ventilation Air Duct Cleaning

The process is simple and is basically initiated by the connection of a high-pressure H.E.P.A filtered vacuum to the duct creating a negative airflow throughout the system.  All air supply grills are cleaned inside and out using a portable vacuum, then sealing them to facilitate the cleaning of the inside of the duct itself.  Compressed air is blown into the duct at intervals starting at the top and working down to the main vacuum connection.  In some cases, access holes may have to be drilled to facilitate this process.  These holes are plugged and sealed after use.  Brushes and skipper balls will also be used where necessary.

Depending on the condition of the ventilation system, it may be necessary to install access doors doors or remove the external cap to facilitate the cleaning of the ducts by employing brushes.  In all cases where access to the ducts is required, access doors are installed or access patches are replaced.

Some systems may have a trough type diffuser within the ceiling spaces.  These diffusers are generally composed of rubber bellows that are very sensitive and easy to damage.  They are usually cleaned with soft brushes and the use of compressed air to blow dust and debris free of the diffuser.  A portable vacuum completes the process by removing all loose debris.

Kitchen Exhaust System Cleaning

Air-Medics cleans kitchen exhaust systems manually, by scraping, scrubbing, wiping, and removing of grease from the interior of hoods, riser ducts, and exhaust fans.  We also use a high-pressure washer with steam if necessary, for example on rooftops, and even install access doors if required to facilitate cleaning.

Pigeon waste is very hazardous to your health.  As you may or may not be aware, pigeons regularly like to nest and feed at the air intake and exhaust vents of the food service industry.  Particles from the exhaust of motor vehicles idling outside or tar and nicotine off-gassing in systems that may not have been cleaned since the smoking bylaws were enacted and all other Health and Safety issues are dealt with at the same time as your mandatory exhaust system cleaning.  The National Fire Prevention Associations NFPA 96 Standard is followed and owner's can rest assured that the work was done and done professionally with before and after pictures of the inside of your systems.  As a member of KESCA, we can certify your system as clean.

High-pressure water is used on most exhaust fans to conduct an effective cleaning.  High-pressure hot water may be used depending on severity of the contamination of the exhaust system (hood, duct).  Water reaching temperatures as high as 200 degrees cleans surfaces and fans efficiently.  Air-Medics has all the permits necessary to utilize water from a fire hydrant and transport grease waste water produced by using the high pressure washing method for disposal.

Of note, Air-Medics will clean under equipment utilizing high-pressure washing techniques if so desired by the client.

Encapsulation of exposed or damaged insulation

Encapsulation services are used to seal any and all surfaces to prevent life forms from growing on the surfaces with the encapsulant.

All insulated ducts must be tested for erosion, deterioration, mould and other hazards.  When mould and mildew damage the insulation, total removal is recommended (we also do replacements).

Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Coil Maintenance

Servicing coils can be a delicate task.  It is critical to protect the area from water damages.  Air-Medics ensures proper protection by either covering all openings and electrical components with plastic or drop sheets.  We then use high-pressure washer and a special compound soap to remove dust, pollen, grease and fungus buildup.


Air-Medics will upgrade existing installations or improve designs for new lighting in office building, manufacturing plants, hotels or other premises having large lighting requirements.  We ensure proper removal and recycling of the florescent tubes and ballasts.  We also remove PCB transformers and tubes, which are considered hazardous and are recyclable products that reduce landfill.
